Finals probably have plenty of college students tense and wound up with all sorts of studying. Productive study breaks can be pretty helpful during such a crucial time in the semester, so below are some ideas for de-stressing during study breaks.

1. Hit up a 24-hour food joint like Merry-Ann’s: For a lot of us, food provides the best stress relief, so go for a quick ice-cream run or pick up some onion rings during your next study break. Better yet, bring some friends and bond over your finals stress with some pie.

2. Kick back with a good playlist: Sometime’s all you need is some music to help you relax and de-stress.

3. Bake some cookies: As always, the quest for food prevails. Pick up some break-and-bake cookies and pop them in the oven to enjoy as a little pick-me-up.

4. Take a quick walk: Honestly, sometimes you just need some air after studying for six hours straight. Try going for a walk  - the cool air should perk you right up.

5. Try out a new cafe: The key to de-stressing while studying is breaking up the monotony, so go someplace new and take in different sights. Or….

6. Go to your favorite  coffee place and choose a drink you’ve never had before: Again, mixing things up while studying will help you to de-stress. So even if you end up hating your new drink, you’ve still perked yourself up a bit.

7. Buy yourself some cozy socks or slippers: If you’re in for the long haul, you should at least be comfortable. Pick up some comfortable or funky socks to mix things up, while still remaining comfy.

8. Make a list of everything you’re excited to see or do after finals: If you’re struggling to push through studying, make a list of your plans during break to psych you up.

9. Find a dog to play with: Dogs don’t even have to try to make you happy, they just do. Stop by one of  the UIUC libraries and de-stress with one of their therapy dogs this week.

10. Paint or doodle: Refresh your mind and release some frustrations through a creative outlet.

11. Paint your nails: Personally, I always feel refreshed and excited after seeing a cool new color on my fingernails.

Regardless of what you do, make sure to relax and take study breaks every hour or so. Happy studying!
